A New Era for Premasticated Arguments

My affection for debating has been with me since I was a kid. From a young age it did not take me long to realise that some people were just repeating the same thing somebody else had said, these are the premasticated arguments. These are short phrases repeated by people as their own personal opinion, not to be confused with quoting somebody who expresses in a better way something you believe in. A classic example of premasticated argument is “immigrants steal jobs”.

Growing up, premasticated arguments were something that I would mostly hear from right wing minded people. Left wing arguments were shy away in people’s minds, unacceptable at most social situations.

At some point left wing arguments went mainstream, they became the new norm, next to political correctness and with it came a whole new set of premasticated arguments which I immediately realised bothered me just as much as those of the right wing side. This is the kind of mentality that makes science and religion antonyms when science is simply the study and seeking of truth and that truth could well be that there is a god; it is nothing else, insisting in adding more to its concept is what has made of the concept of science some sort of institution which in itself has become a form of religion followed blindly, forgetting that one of the core principles of the scientific venture is to question all knowledge.

When it comes to most social interactions I feel more as an observer than a participant, this is particularly true in the case of social media platforms, I barely post anything up myself and have very rarely ever commented on anything that somebody else has posted. It was reading posts in social media platforms that I realised how much had left wing premasticated arguing become the new norm, it is okay to say things that are plain slogans of someone’s moral campaign as long as those things are within the list of supported causes by this conglomerate brain that moves around like a lazy flab capturing bits of content, resulting in an inconclusive collage that aims to resemble a rational thought.

Our society has many issues that require fixing, but most of all, our main issue is that we need to go back to the very beginning of our organising structure and moral base to build something coherent, instead our approach is to keep adding patches, not really fixing anything, not getting to the route of any of those issues and it makes only sense to think that eventually it will have to collapse. And so it partially does every so often in one form or another, a revolt, a large protest gone out of hand, a suicide, they all are forms of one of these unresolved issues collapsing.

Premasticated arguments are a symptom of a manipulated society formed of individuals lacking the capacity for critical thinking.

Machoism is an immense problem in our worldwide society, having a woman as president of a country does not resolve such issue, nor does making this person god-like incapable of doing wrong, flawless character. This does not only not resolve the issue but it is not real progress, it is not real progress because it purposely avoids going to the route and presents this as solution, it is only the illusion of progress because the woman placed as president is allowed to be president by those with true power.

Posts that blindly support any of the acceptable causes, like may be feminism and associating everything that a woman does with social progress, and so a post may be a video of a woman making a snarky remark during a debate and the poster would include a message like “I love this woman”, this post would most likely be sharing something that somebody else had posted and the video itself would be extracted from a debate with a title like “the person’s name shuts down another person’s name or a political party”.

These sort of posts bother me as any other premasticated argument do, but these are not part of the new era I am referring to in my title, the new era are the ones that came after, the reaction to these so called left wing progressive thinking arguments, a renaissance of right wing morality and oppressive thinking camouflaged as a reassuring rhetoric for everything that should be considered good morals. I first noticed this perhaps a decade ago when some acquaintances would claim their patriotism as a positive feeling that should not be taken as xenophobia, it is the same attitude that claims to be the underdog because is not able to access government aids.

A worrying type of mentality, and sad. Sad because I grew up with many of these voices, sad because those are the younger generation that were supposed to move forward and step by step, generation by generation, eventually reach that ever dreamed of advanced society.
